The Collective by BCD Meetings & Events created a series of virtual events for the International Currency Association (ICA). Designed to be a taster of their Global Currency Forum taking place in May 2022, the virtual events comprised of interviews and panel sessions and included full creative, delegate management to drive registrations, a bespoke virtual platform build, plus an event app.

The Global Currency Forum is a thought leadership three-day event that addresses the future role of cash in today’s rapidly changing payment landscape. 450 guests attended the event, made up of central banks of the world, government officials and cash management companies. The Collective supported the event end-to-end, from venue sourcing and event technology through to event production.

The Collective created a full registration platform, with regular tailored comms sent out via email through the platform. Following an extensive venue search, the chosen events venue had to be changed last minute when it remained unopened due to the impact of COVID. Our venue experts crisis-managed the situation and swiftly secured the iconic theme park PortAventura as the destination. Set in Tarragona, Spain. Our venue specialists exclusively booked out the hotel and business centre plus one-night exclusive theme park use.

The conference required a two-day complex build. A full plenary stage set, three technology workshop spaces, breakout rooms and 21 partner meeting rooms were all built into the space, plus an exhibition hall with bespoke stands was also created. The Collective also supported with delegate management, plus our creative team supported with all design elements. Across the three days, the conference took the form of panel sessions, technology workshops and breakout sessions covering topics including cryptocurrency, sustainability of the cash chain, the metaverse and innovation trends. The keynote session was given by Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water.
Each evening an array of entertainment was offered. Infinitum, a beach club oasis overlooking the sea with seven terrace pools, was the spectacular 2nd night venue. Guests were treated to a Mediterranean BBQ accompanied by a violinist and band. For the final evening, we took over the theme park, exclusively hiring the rollercoasters. Food stalls of authentic Spanish food were brought into the area with a DJ to create a party atmosphere. To create an impact, the conference logo was projected onto the PortaVentura Fountain
